How to precisely measure and finally perfectly install roman Shades/Blinds?
It depends on whether you plan to use Inside Mount or Outside Mount roman Shades/Blinds.
Inside mount means your window coverings will be installed right within the window frame, creating a sleek and seamless look.
Just keep in mind that this option is not recommended forwindows with shallow sills.(Larger than 3 inches)

Outside mount means your window coverings are installed outside the window frame, requiring no specific depth and offering enhanced privacy. This option is perfect for windowswith shallow sills or when you want to block out more light and reduce the halo effect
How to Measure Inside Mount Shades/Blinds
- Check Depth: Measure the depth at the top of the window casing to ensure enough space for an inside mount.
- Width: Measure the window width at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement and subtract 3/8” for the order width.
- Length: Measure the window length on the left, center, and right. Use the largest measurement for the order length.
How to Measure Outside Mount Shades/Blinds
- Width: Measure the window width (outer edge to edge). If space allows, add extra 2-4 inches (1-2 inches on each side) for better coverage.
- Height: Measure the window height (outer edge to edge). If possible, mount the shade 10-12 inches above the frame for a balanced look.
